About the Center

The Centre for Climate Change and Biodiversity was established in 2014, at the National University of Timor-Leste (UNTL), under the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Environment, Government of Timor-Leste. The Centre for Climate Change and Biodiversity conducts and houses research on climate related issues and biodiversity conservation in Timor-Leste.

Vision

To support the minimization of climate change impacts, and enhance biodiversity conservation for sustainable development.

Official launch of the Centre for Climate Change and Biodiversity Centre website, and Handover of the Dili Declaration on Climate Change Adaptation and Climate Change Adaptation data to the Centre for Climate Change and Biodiversity

The National Directorate for International Environmental Affairs and Climate Change (NDIEACC), will hold an official handover ceremony of the Dili Declaration on Climate Change Adaptation, and Climate Change Adaptation data from the Working Group on Climate Change Adaptation (WG-CCA) to the Centre for Climate Change and Biodiversity (CCCB), and launching of the Centre for Climate Change and Biodiversity website.

This ceremony will be conducted to

  1. increase awareness on the importance of Climate Change Adaptation amongst civil servants, local NGOs, media and university students;
  2. give prominence to teh Dili Declaration on Climate Change Adaptation, which was approved by acclamation at the 1st Conference on Climate Change Adaptation in Timor-Leste;
  3. solidify coordination and data-sharing linkages between Timor-Leste’s most important Climate Change Adaptation stakeholders and professions;
  4. raise the profile of the Centre for Climate Change and Biodiversity in UNTL; and
  5. promote open dialogue on Climate Change Adaptation issues and initiatives relevant in teh context of Timor-Leste.
