The Climate Change Adaptation Conference held on 5th – 6 th November, 2014, was the first Conference dedicated to building and sharing knowledge on responding to climate change to be held in Timor-Leste. Across the two days of the Conference, over 350 people from government, INGOs and NGOs, practitioners, academics, educators and agriculture/farmer groups attended.

The Conference held 7 plenary sessions, 15 parallel sessions and 3 panel discussions, covering topics closely aligned with the National Adaptation Programme of Action (NAPA) priorities.

These included water security; planning, policies and legislature; community based adaptation; gender, women’s empowerment and disability; food security, agriculture and biodiversity; disaster risk reduction; governance, climate science and scenarios, and traditional and local knowledge for climate change resilience.

The Conference also included a large display of projects working on climate change and related issues, in the Conference Expo side event at the venue.
